Our hearty artists 2008

Hot off the press...here are our first artists for 2008!
Have a little read about the people who are making this year's Art with Heart possible
As artists join, we will update their info in the Artists 2008 section.

HETTIENNE GROBLER

I work in acrylics, oils and mixed media. My journey as an artist started unfolding as part of my spiritual journey. All my paintings are born from an inner vision and understanding of my own archetypal journey as well as the mythological aspects of life. I see it that each one of us is the hero of our own myth and each day we are challenged by our own dragons as we strive to wake up our sleeping beauties or save our damsels in distress. I like to think that we are all living our own magical tales. Fairy tales and creative journaling is a great source of inspiration for me, as well as other crafts. I am also currently working on publishing a book of poetry, entitled The Path of Love. My other greatest passion in life is dancing. I participate in various types of dance as a form of creative self-expression. I live in Durbanville, Cape.

KEVIN TAYLOR

Kevin studied multimedia design at City Varsity in Cape Town. His interests include illustration, photography, design, music, history and writing. He enjoys indie music, and was a moderator on the "mewsite" (for Mew, biggest band in Denmark) and believes in contributing to good causes- he designed the logo for Mutisa (moral upliftment and transformation of prisoners in South Africa). He is a fan of the films of David Lynch and the photography of Jacques Henri Lartigue.

GARY FRIER

Born 15 October 1972 and later educated as a Graphic Designer at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Gary has been moved to create art of a more personal nature. Of his work he says,” I find inspiration in many forms of media and subjects. Creating art for me is about constantly reflecting on his place in the world, discovering how to distill and interpret this interaction with what surrounds me and documenting that personal relationship.”
Gary makes a continued effort to encourage interest in art among his contemporaries by exhibiting at NGO’s and cultural institutions such as the Alliance Franciase and the ITECED (Institute of Training and Education for Capacity Building) library in East London

SIMONE PUTERMAN

LINDA MORRIS

With a passion for photography and all sports extreme, I thrive on new experiences and have a deep rooted enthusiasm for the fields of Marketing, strategic Planning, Business Development, Human Performance and Communication. I hold a B.Comm Marketing Management degree from the University of Johannesburg (formerly known as RAU), graduating as one of the top students in my chosen field. I have acquired a wide array of experience working in the Media, consulting and SMME Telecommunications industries. A quote that best sums me up would be: “Make your vocation your vacation-Start small, think big and aim somewhere in between.” I have a new found respect for traveling-seeing new places and experiencing different cultures, taking thousands of photographs wherever I go. There are however, still many places on my “to see” list. I enjoy hiking, tennis, canopy jumping and of course art and photography. I would describe myself as a thoughtful, passionate and creative person with a zest for life. A good book on the couch is the perfect way to relax on a chilly winter weekend afternoon.

JUNIPER

My name is Juniper. My mom is a painter so I am a painter. I like to paint nature, and my work is bright and happy. My most recent stuff as I write this - is a series of trees, because I love the shape trees make against the sky. I work in oils because they are juicy, on canvas because I like the noise my paintbrush makes; and I find that because oils are more time-consuming to work with, they feel more luxurious to paint with - considering my busy, high-speed life. Wow. That was a long sentence
